WINDSOR BEAT ETON
Annual River Race Revived
For the first time since 1939, the annual eight oar race for the “Peters” Cup between crews representing Windsor against Eton and Slough was rowed on Wednesday evening. The Eton Excelsior, who are holding their regatta on Saturday, staged the Point and finished off at the Eton College rafts.
Windsor won a very exciting race by a third of a length. The crews were:
South of the Thames: E. Chasty (bow), V. H. Hobbs, F. Radnor, T. Hampton, J. C. Fox, J. J. Sowerby, G. D. Dyson, V. A. C. Wood (stroke), R. March (cox).
North of the Thames: A. Gregory (bow), J. Lawson, T. Marrs, A. Aubrey-Jones, J. Kille, L. Barrett, R. A. Derry, B. J. Cork (stroke), L. T. Jones (cox).
