Interested in local or family history but not sure how to do the research? The Windsor Local History Group is 50 years old this year, and we want to help you. At our Research Day, we’ll introduce you to some of the most useful research resources and explain how to use them.
We have a dedicated training session led by Tom Wigley between 1 and 3 pm, and from 1 to 5 pm, various members will be on hand to answer questions and help you explore local history.
Informal Session
No booking is required for the informal session, just come along. Members will try to answer your questions and will be able to give coaching advice.
Training Session
If you’ve ever wondered about the history of your house, street or neighbourhood, then our dedicated training session is for you! If you’re curious about family history, then this is for you, too. Read on if you loved the BBC’s ‘A House Through Time’ or ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’.
Our session will cover:
- Using ‘Ancestry’ at RBWM libraries.
- Census records,
- Births, marriages and deaths
- Directories & Electoral Rolls
- Maps
- Newspapers
- Military sources
