On Wednesday and Thursday, the above club held their first Monthly Four Oar Race from the Mill Stream to Eton College Boat House.
1st Heat: Nichols (bow), Shiach (2), Watson (3), White (str.), Freeman (cox), 1; Barnes (bow), Sharrett (2), Littlewood (3), Powell (str.), Dismore (cox), 2. White’s crew went ahead at the start, but Powell’s crew drew level at the Railway Bridge. From there to Dead Water Eyot both crews were level and an exciting finish was anticipated, but at Jacob’s Boathouse White went ahead to win by 1 length. Time, 3mins. 42secs.
Final: Winners of 1st heat, 1; Smyth (bow), Jones (2), Keith (3), Bond (str.), Chew (cox), 2. White’s crew led all the way and won by 1¼ lengths. Time, 3min. 47secs.
