Barbara Mitch

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of long-term member, Barbara Mitch. Barbara joined the Group in September 2000 and became Treasurer in 2004, and she diligently kept our accounts in good order, even after she became ill.

Her main interest of research was the Windsor Poor and Windsor Alms and Poorhouses of the early 19th century. The Group hopes to write an article on this topic in her name, using the file notes she left.

Barbara had lived in Twickenham and worked at the Bank of England before coming to Windsor on her marriage. Both her son Michael and daughter Alison were educated locally.

She was a member of Windsor Dedworth Manor Townswomen’s Guild, the Women’s Institute, and Inner Wheel, and attended Eton Wick History Group meetings each month until shortly before her death.

We shall all miss her.
