PLAN TO FORM A WOMEN’S ROWING CLUB IN WINDSOR
A few enthusiasts are hoping for a strong membership and enough money to buy a boat: Clubhouse will follow
A number of Windsor girls have recently taken up rowing seriously, and they are hoping to form a club. At the Eton Excelsior Rowing Club’s regatta in August, they rowed in a race for the first time in the Invitation Ladies’ Fours. They were beaten in their heat by Weybridge, but they are keen and are hoping to give a better account of themselves in the future. Their ambition is to secure more members and sufficient money to put the club on its feet.
They have rowed in a boat loaned to them by Eton College, who have been very generous in their assistance, but the girls are keen to have one of their own. They want to form a rowing club for women, and also to have their own clubhouse.
About twelve girls are now definitely interested, and the number will grow if they can get assistance. Miss Murray Brown, of 12 Clewer Avenue, is the secretary and she will be glad to hear from anybody who would like to join them and still more from anybody who can in any way help them to realize their ambition.
