Eton Crew win “Peters” Cup.

The Eton Excelsior Rowing Club held their annual eight-oar race for the “Peters” Cup on Wednesday last. This cup was presented to the Club by the late Sir G. H. Peters in 1890, for a race between crews comprising members living in Windsor district, against those living in Eton district. The crews this year were:

Windsor: J. G. White (bow), D. S. Harrison, A. E. Sharratt, V. H. Hobbs, J. B. V. Corps, J. B. Powell, F. W. Buck, V. A. C. Woods and C. D. Dyson (cox).

Eton.—E. Stubbs (bow), H. J. Hughes, A. R. Verney, R. H. Dyke, A. U. Shiach, D. A. Bond, H. J. Nicholls, L. Barrett and L. H. Dismore (cox).

The Race.—Both crews started very well. Eton went up after the first minute and were half a length ahead at the Eton Country Club. Windsor then spurted and drew level at the G.W.R. Bridge. Eton then spurted and regained their lead and drew away to win by one length in 4m. 15s. Windsor have now broken their sequence of successes, having won each year since 1924.

The Mayor, Alderman Mitchell, several old members, and Mr. Boswell (who started the race) followed the race in the Etona launch.

After the race the President (Alderman G. Mitchell) kindly entertained the crews, members and friends to a supper at Riverholme.

The Mayor, Mr. T. Boswell, Mr. R. Radnor, Mr. H. Powers and about 30 members and old members were present and enjoyed a very pleasant evening.
