A TUDOR BALL

The Eton Excelsior R.C. Tudor Ball at the Castle Hotel, on Boxing Night, was a very gay affair. These annual dances seem to increase in popularity year by year, and on Tuesday there were about 250 present.

The organisers of the function are to be congratulated on the complete success of their transformation of the ballroom into the interior of an Elizabethan mansion. The whole set was complete, even to the open fireplace, blazing logs, and lighted candlesticks. The Arcadians Orchestra. who provided an almost non-stop band, were accommodated on a specially-constructed balcony. A number of the neighbouring Rowing Clubs brought parties to the function, and the proceedings were enlivened by the liberal distribution of paper hats, streamers, etc. All the dances were enthusiastically encored, but none were given a greater reception than the “Paul Jones” numbers.

Mr. A. Bellringer, Mr. V. Hobbs, and the Committee responsible deserve the utmost credit for the organisation of such an excellent social event, which terminated with the playing of the Eton Boating song, cheers for the band, the organisers, and the staff of the hotel.
