Dutch Opponents For Excelsior

Eton crews at Reading Regatta

Eton Excelsior Rowing Club will be represented by an Eight, entered in the non-status class, and a Senior Four at Reading Regatta on Saturday. In the Eight B. J. Cork will be at stroke and E. Chasty at 7. Both these oarsmen represented the Club before the war, and have been demobilized within the last month. Otherwise the crew is the same as that which recently defeated Mortlake B.C., and is again being coached by J. F. Derry.

The Senior Four will meet a Dutch crew in their first heat. It will be interest-ing to see whether the British crew, all of whom work by day and have only the evenings and week-ends for training, can hold their own against the invaders. F. Buck, the club’s vice-captain, is giving valuable assistance to the Four. Crews have been selected as under: Non-Status Eight: A. Gregory (bow), R. Jordan, T. J. Marrs, A. M. Ross, J. Kille, J. J. Sowerby, E. Chasty, B. J. Cork (stroke), L. T. Jones (cox). Senior Four: V. A. Wood (bow and steers), L. Barrett, J. C. Fox, R. A. Derry (stroke).
