Bourne End Regatta
As Cookham Regatta has been abandoned for this year, Bourne End Regatta, which was held on Saturday, is now the principal mixed regatta on the Upper Thames reaches. On Saturday the programme consisted of rowing, skiff, punting and canoe events, and there were good entries for all. Eton Excelsior R.C. gained several notable successes. The chief results were:-
JUNIOR-SENIOR FOURS.
Heat 1-National Provincial Bank R.C., row over.
Heat 2-Eton Excelsior R.C., 1; Maidenhead R.C., 2. Won by 1 lengths in 4min. 22sec.
Final Heat-Eton Excelsior R.C. (W. A. Brown (bow and steers), L. Barrett, F. Wood (stroke), 1; National Provincial Bank R.C. (H. Preston (bow and steers), E. Н. Stanley, R. W. Chamberlain, G. A. Staines (stroke), 2. A splendid race, Eton Excelsior winning by half a length in 4min. 20sec.
JUNIOR FOURS
Heat 1-Eton Excelsior R.C., 1; National Provincial Bank R.C., 2. Won easily in 4min. 40sec.
Heat 2-Courtenay Lodge B.C., 1; Auriol R.C., 2. Won by three lengths in 4min. 47sec.
Final Heat-Eton Excelsior R.C., E. T. Watson (bow), F. A. Gurney, J. B. Frampton, K. L. Huy (stroke), H. J. Nicholls (cox), 1; Courtenay (cox), 1; Courtenay Lodge B.C., J. Whitehead (bow), K. Hough, N. Gotto, N. Steen (stroke), P. Cunningham (cox), 2. Eton Excelsior led throughout and won easily by three lengths in 4min. 39sec.
MAIDEN FOURS
Heat 1-Reading R.C., 1; Courtenay Lodge B.C., 2. Won easily in 5min. 8sec.
Heat 2-Eton Excelsior R.C., 1; Maidenhead R.C., 2; Marlow R.C., 3. Won by a quarter of a length in 5min. 10sec.
Final Heat-Reading R.C., F. G. England (bow), H. J. Hughes, F. W. Ager, K. Drew (stroke), S. M. White (cox), 1; Eton Excelsior R.C., A. C. Fraser (bow). R. O. Radbourne, R. R. Littlewood, H.L. Davis (stroke), L. H. Dismore (cox), 2. Reading kept a good length throughout and won by two lengths in 5min. 4sec.
