BEAUMONT COLLEGE BEATEN

The eight-oar race between Eton Excelsior and Beaumont College was rowed over the Old Windsor reach of the Thames, and resulted in a victory for Excelsior.  The course was from Magna Charta Island to a point just below Old Windsor Lock.

Excelsior, who won the toss, chose the Bucks bank.  At the half-way mark Excelsior were slightly ahead.  Near Wraysbury Ferry they increased their stroke, drew ahead, and won by two lengths in 4 min. 55 sec.

BEAUMONT COLLEGE. – A. Bobbett (bow), E. Williams, E. Blount, C. Bathurst, R. Rotherham, P. Poels, J. Freeman, D. Murphy (stroke), J. Foiret (cox). 2.  Over the same course, a race between the second crews of the clubs resulted in victory for the Beaumont eight, half a length.
