A BUSY WEEK-END
Next Saturday will be a very busy one on the river. The chief meeting will be at Teddington, where the championships of the Skiff Club will be amongst the events of the Skiff Club Regatta. There will also be a number of open skiff and punting events. Under the shadows of Windsor Castle, Eton Excelsior, one of the oldest clubs on the river, will hold their annual regatta. In addition to a number of club events, there will be the Junior Fours for the “Ruthven Cup,” Maiden Fours for the “Jacobs” Cup, and Double Sculls for the “Wakefield” Memorial Cup. The front of the Eton College Boathouse will be reserved for subscribers, and there should be some interesting racing.
The old Cookham Amateur Regatta is now defunct, but next Saturday there will be much merriment at this upriver resort, for a Rag Regatta is being organised by the Cookham Branch of the British Legion. There are a number of very amusing events to be decided which should provide great fun.
Higher up the river at Henley, the Henley United Rowing Club are holding their annual regatta. This meeting is for Tradesmen’s and Working Men’s Rowing Clubs, and is likely to be well supported. The principal open events are Senior and Junior Fours and Senior and Junior Sculls.
