| Name: | King George V Memorial |
| Description: | The Memorial to King George V at the junction of Thames Street and Datchet Road was provided by public subscription from Windsor, Ontario, in Canada. The work is from a design by Sir Edwin Lutyens, R.A., and was unveiled by King George VI on 23rd April I937 [RWWS]. The monument consists of two flanking fountains and a simple stone plinth. John Piper and John Betjeman wrote: ‘The mouldings are bold and simple, the proportion graceful, with its insistence on horizontal lines.’ The blue plaque is mounted on the front of the monument at its centre. |
