Eton Excelsior Rowing Club
Founded 1826
PRESIDENT SIR GEORGE PETERS, J.P.
THE ONLY AMATEUR ROWING CLUB FOR ETON, WINDSOR, SLOUGH AND DISTRICT
February, 1930.
Dear Sir,
In November last the above Club launched an appeal for subscriptions to enable them to build a new Boathouse, estimated to cost £1,500, in order to provide suitable accommodation and carry on Amateur Rowing in this rapidly growing district.
The Club realised the magnitude of such an undertaking but were anxious to take advantage of the offer to lease the Island opposite the Brocas, at a very low rental from the Borough Council (an ideal site for such a building).
We now have the sum of £400 (received and promised), and the letters received expressing approval of the scheme have been most encouraging.
As the offer of this site is limited to a few months, the Club requires more financial support and is anxious to obtain the interest of as many lovers of this very healthy sport as possible. We hope you will make a subscription to the fund, which will be gratefully received by myself or the Hon. Treasurer of the Club c/o The Midland Bank, Windsor.
Yours faithfully,
A. H. DYSON,
Chairman of the Building Committee.
The Cottage, Alma Road, Windsor.
