Eton Excelsior Dance

The Eton Excelsior Rowing Club dance at the Castle Hotel, Windsor, on Boxing night, was an even greater success than usual, and the attendance broke all records, there being well over 350 present. The Club members had cleverly decorated the ballroom with the Club colours, with an archway of oars over the band. The Broadway Players provided an almost non-stop programme of music, and there was very little for the M.C.s’ Messrs. Hobbs and Bellringer, to do. The loudspeakers arranged in the lounge by Fennemore, Howlett & Co. Ltd., enabled one innovation this year, a programme of carols played during the interval being sung by the whole company. As usual at this dance, the evening’s proceedings were brought to a close with the “Eton Boating Song“, being the tune for the last waltz, followed immediately by “Auld Lang Syne“.
