WindsorDay.co.uk is all about celebrating the history and the community that is Windsor. The 17th July 1917 being the day King George V changed the Royal Family name to Windsor. This was being promoted by I Love Windsor CIC and was hoped to be the first of many to come.

We joined an event being hosted by the Windsor Library in the historic Bachelors Acre. Some of our members were on hand to answer questions on local history, and talk through documents and maps which were on display. We had quite a few visitors in a gloriously hot afternoon, just one of many during the summer.

It is not the first time Bachelors Acre has been home to festivities. Back in the early 19th century, there was the Bachelors’ Jubilee with events based on old favourites. Later, this became the Windsor Revel. Unfortunately, this ended due to too many libations being consumed during the event.
