We were deeply sorry to hear from our Honorary President, Brigitte Mitchell, that her beloved husband, Geoff, had passed away on 26th February 2026. He was not only her rock, but a good and close friend of Windsor Local History Group and was for many years the Treasurer. He was not a member, but he was a regular and popular attendee at gatherings and took care of financial matters for over 10 years. His meticulous attention to detail was unparalleled. He was a great character, proud of his military past, having carried out his National Service in the Royal Regiment of Life Guards, then joined the Berkshire Yeomanry.
He had a great knowledge of Windsor history and was always willing to share, often with his infectious sense of humour. He and Brigitte met through a shared interest in Windsor and military history. They were married in 2000, after 18 years together.
There was a celebration of life in his honour on April 18th at Castle View, attended by friends and family. It was an opportunity to share pictures and memories. Geoff had suffered with his health in recent years, having caught COVID during 2020. He had endured a few hospital stays and setbacks, but his inner strength got him through. He and Brigitte had only recently moved to Castle View.

He was a great supporter of the Windsor Museum as well as the Windsor Local History Group, and everything that Brigitte did. He will be sorely missed.
