ETON EXCELSIOR R.C.

On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings members of the Eton Excelsior Rowing Club competed in the heats and final of the Devereux Fours for the challenge cup presented by Mr. E. C. Devereux.

The Cup was won by Sharratt’s crew after a capital race with Mackett’s four. The course was from Clewer Point to Eton College Boathouse. Details:-

Berks Station: Heat 1-Verney (bow), Arthurton, Harrison, Sharratt (stroke), Mar-ment (cox), 1; Bucks Station: Stubbs (bow Hughes, Nicholls, Dyke (stroke), Dyson (cox), 2. Dykes’ crew led by half a length at the G.W.R. Bridge, but the winners raced strongly from this point to the winning post and by a good race won by half a length.


Heat 2: Bucks Station-White (bow), Matthews, Bedford, Mackett (stroke), Mar-ment (cox), 1; Berks Station-Barnes (bow), Radbourne, Gullick, Corps (stroke), Dyson (cox), 2. Won by four feet after good race.

FINAL: Berks Station-Sharratt’s crew, 1; Mackett’s crew, 2. Won by two lengths. Time, 5m. 11s.
