Excelsior To Carry On

The ninety-third annual meeting of the Eton Excelsior Rowing Club was held at the Guildhall, on Friday evening, when the Vice-Captain (Mr. F. W. Buck) presided, supported by the Hon. Secretary (Mr. Cyril Dyson), the Hon. Treasurer (Mr. A. Bellringer) and a number of members.

Ten New Members

The HON. SECRETARY in his annual report stated that four years of war had failed to stop rowing activities, although they had been somewhat restricted. Ten new members had been enlisted, and six more members had joined the Services. He reported on the broadcast he undertook last September in connexion with the B.B.C. message to Windsor boys overseas. He spoke of the regret with which they recorded the deaths of Mr. T. H. Boswell, one of their oldest vice-presidents, Mr. T. Baker, one of their oldest members, and of Messrs. E. Blore and R. Bodily, killed in action.

The report was adopted as was the statement of accounts, which showed the club to be in a very healthy financial position.

Mr. A. H. Dyson was unanimously re-elected president, with a message of good wishes from the members. Mr. Vic Hobbs, whose military duties prevented his attendance that evening, was re-elected captain with Mr. F. W. Buck vice-captain. Messrs. C. Dyson and A. Bellringer were re-elected hon. secretary and hon. treasurer respectively, with votes of thanks for their past work. The committee were re-elected en bloc.

The Coming Season

It was stated that rowing on similar lines to last season was hoped for during the coming months when all members on service returning on leave would be very welcome on the club raft.

A discussion took place regarding some form of rowing instruction being given to boys in the various pro-service units, and it was left to the officers to arrange details with the Commanders of the units concerned.
