Celebrating 50 years
To celebrate our fiftieth year, we decided to offer assistance to the local community with their local history research projects. Partnering with the Windsor Library, we planned three events spread throughout the year. Our first was on 17th April, supported by the local RBWM Mayoress.

One of our members, Tom Wigley, pulled together a wonderful Research Resources document covering many of the stages and tools that someone could use to find out about past people, places or events. This has now been made freely available to download. With this, he also created and presented slides to take the assembled audience through it.

After the formal part of the session, things moved into the Reference Section of the library to delve into the plethora of local maps, directories, documents and microfiches. Afterwards, it became very interactive, with our members helping the audience and others who had joined. Queries included the history of a house in Bexley Street, a British soldier who actually served with the Canadian Army, and boundary questions on older maps.

All in all, a fabulous afternoon for all and one we are certain to repeat.
