Thames Valley Hospice at Pine Lodge in Hatch Lane, Windsor was opened 25 years ago in 1987 by HM the Queen after some years of hard work by a group of people led by Dr Douglas Denny and his wife. Pine Lodge came on to the market in 1987 and the funds they had already raised enabled them to buy the property.

There is still a Fundraising Team and Windsor Fundraising Group is one of many in East Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire who continue to organise events for funds. By 2008 there were 16 charity retail shops including one in Peascod Street and one at the St Andrews Road corner of Dedworth Road plus the Homestore and Donation Centre in Tinkers Lane at Dedworth.

In 2005 the Paul Bevan Cancer Foundation and the Thames Valley Hospice merged as Thames Hospice Care. All day care is now at Ascot and in-patient care is in Windsor.
