ETON EXCELSIOR v. BEAUMONT COLLEGE
The annual ‘eight oar race between Eton Excelsior and Beaumont College took place on Saturday on the Old Windsor Reach from the Red Gate to the bottom of the Island.
Both crews got away well, Beaumont striking a very high rate soon went ahead and led till about half the distance when the Excelsior Crew rowing very strongly drew up and took the lead. Beaumont made a gallant effort to regain it, but Eton were too strong and won by three-quarters of a length.
The Eton Excelsior crew was: W. Fraser (bow), J. Lawson, D. S. Harrison, F. Blore, J. Sowerby, A. W. A. Jones, E. C. Chasty, J. J. Cork (stroke), J. Randall (cox).
READING REGATTA
The Eton Club is sending a junior eight to Reading regatta on Saturday, 17th June, and judging by last Saturday’s performance they should do well.
A race between Eton Excelsior and the Imperial Service College will be rowed to-morrow (Saturday) over the Datchet Reach.
