ETON EXCELSIOR EIGHT TO ROW TO CHISWICK
The Eton Excelsior Rowing Club are this year taking part in the head-of-the-river race over the University course from Putney to Mortlake on 30th March. It is expected that over a hundred crews will compete, and the many friends and supporters of the Eton Excelsior Club wish the crew every success in their enterprise.
The crew are entering into the business with enthusiasm, and in order to conserve the Club funds, they propose to row their boat from Windsor to Chiswick on Sunday to the headquarters of the Ibis Rowing Club. The distance from Windsor to Chiswick is about thirty-three miles, and there are ten locks to negotiate. A start will be made at about 10 a.m., and it is hoped the crew will reach their destination at about five in the evening.
The crew chosen for the competition is a follows: V. H. Hobbs (bow), R. J. Cork, F. W. Buck, D. S. Harrison, H. J. W. Nicholls, N. J. Mackett, J. B. Frampton, F. R. Derry (stroke), and L. H. Dismore (cox).
