We are pleased to present a selection of local newspaper clippings that are important to the Group. They cover a variety of topics and years, and all are local to Windsor. They record important snippets of history which tell the story of Windsor.
They have been collated from the Windsor & Eton Express and the Slough & Bucks Observer. They have excellent copies of the photographs available if you get in direct contact with them. No copyright infringement is intended. We want to show how our local newspapers are a great source of information both current and past and great supporters of keeping history alive for current and future generations.
Please just click on the topic below to be taken to a dedicated page on the subject:
“Views of the Past” articles by Elias Kupfermann that appeared in the Slough Observer.
Buildings in the News: including the Princess Christian Hospital and development of The Bricklayers Arms in Hatch Lane.
Events in the News: including the Castle Fire, 200 years of the Windsor Express.
People in the News: some of the influencers of Windsor including Hester Davenport and Chris Brown, the town crier.
The Friends of the Windsor Museum: we share a lot in common with our friends who support our important museum.
And of course, the Windsor Local History Group ourselves.
This section has only just been started and we are adding to it on a regular basis. Please come back and see the exciting articles and also our progress. Let us know if you have any articles that would be appropriate for inclusion; use the ‘Contact Us‘ form and we will get back to you.
