On Thursday August 3rd, 1882 the Clewer Mothers’ Meeting had their Summer Treat. One of the Mothers recorded her impressions of the day in the Clewer Parish Magazine for September . . . “It was to Kew Gardens the treat was . . . It’s a most splendid place, such trees and things . . . We went all over the Gardens and into the hothouses, and wandered about till four, when we went to one of them summer houses and had tea, which had been ordered for us, and a very nice tea it was too,
. . . I liked the Museum. Some don’t seem to care for those things; they just looked in and went away, but I spent lots of time there, those things are so interesting. It was a delightful day, nice and fine too. We enjoyed it immensely, I’m sure.”
