During July, we are updating some of the original website pages. The online publication of our back catalogue of Windlesoras is taking a bit of a summer break.
Eton Prime Ministers
Now has some facts, images and a brief bio for each added. Also links to appropriate Windlesora articles. As this is one of the most popular pages, we wanted to add more value to the reader’s experience. We have also added useful pointers to other websites for more details.
Local Blue Plaques
We have launched the first phase of a completely new section regarding commemorative plaques that can be found throughout the area. The next stage is to add more detail, including maps, to make this an invaluable source for visitors to the area.
Victoria Cross Recipients
The latest update involved replacing the original basic list with details about each recipient, including an image and a summary of their achievement. We are currently expanding it to the RBWM area, which is proving to be a challenge.

As part of this journey, we have been exploring the use of AI (ChatGPT and Microsoft CoPilot). It’s early days, but there are signs these will be excellent tools for the historian in the future. However, a word of caution, lots of manual checking is currently required.
