8th October 2024

Today was the 175th anniversary of opening the first train line to Windsor. It was built in just over a year, and the Windsor-Slough line soon became the Royal Branch line. To celebrate the occasion, GWR had a small celebration at the W&E Central Station. It involved the Mayors of both RBWM and Slough, members of the local community, various societies, and GWR staff. Two TVs gave an overview of the history. Handouts and themed confectionery distributed by Victorian characters added a little sparkle to the occasion.

Members of the WLHG contributed materials and produced both the rolling presentation and the handout. Jane Jones MBE, the Head of Public Affairs for GWR, wanted to pass on her thanks. She appreciated those who helped make this a memorable day.
