Constitution

We are pleased to present the Constitution for the Windsor Local History Group. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions.

  1. The name of the Group shall be The Windsor Local History Group.
  2. The Group is established:
    • to promote and foster the study and recording of local history;
    • to publish the results of such research.
  3. In furtherance of the aims of the Group, it shall
    • affiliate to any other body having relevant purpose;
    • seek financial help from public bodies and other sources, and by way of subscriptions from Members, as seems necessary.
  4. Membership:
    • Membership of the Group shall be limited to twenty.
    • New Members:
      • Any Candidate for Membership shall be proposed and seconded by two Members, they having satisfied themselves that such a candidate is willing and able to take an active part in the work of the Group.
      • Details of such Candidate including full name, address, occupation and qualifications for membership shall be circulated to all members with the agenda for the next available meeting at which the Proposer and Seconder are present.
      • Election of the Candidate shall be dealt with at that meeting of the Group and shall be by a majority of two thirds of those Members present at the meeting.
    • The Officers of the Group shall consist of a Chairman, a Vice-Chairman, and Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, an Editor and a Record Keeper. The Group may appoint a President and Vice-Presidents.
    • The Officers shall be appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) shall be held in February each year.
    • Members shall pay such subscriptions as may be decided at the AGM.
    • Due notices of all meetings shall be given to the Secretary.
  5. Expenses:
    • The spending of sums up to £20.00 may be authorised by any two of the three Officers. The sum may be varied at any Executive Committee meeting. The spending of sums in excess of £20 but not more than £100 may be authorised by two Officers. The spending of large sums must be approved by the Executive Committee.
    • A bank account shall be opened. A good discharge for the Group’s funds may be given by the Treasurer for sums up to £20 and in excess of £20 by two of the following: Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer.
  6. Any monies accruing shall be used to finance:
    • publications by the Group;
    • research;
    • approved expenses in obtaining or gaining access to research material;
    • approved administrative expenses;
    • the repayment of loans if the lender so desires and has given notice;
    • educational material.
